Will you love me at my worst? | What I learned from Pink Sweat$

Pink Sweat$'s new album cover art, which features the song 'at my worst', from WILF.

This one may not be as well known but one of my currently most-listened to artists include Pink Sweat$. Specifically, the song ‘At my worst’.

So what’s so special about this song?

I think one of the most initial things you get hit with is a general vibe. To describe it, I’d say it sounds like Valentine’s Day.

But for those of us that haven’t heard that song, what would this mean?

I think the most relatable way of explaining it would be similar to a cartoon floating towards their partner.

At least that’s what the melody immediately makes you feel.

But I also wanted to get into the lyrics to dive deeper.

I need somebody who can love me At My Worst

That’s the line that this song is based on. The rest of the song expresses further about what having somebody who is capable of doing this would be like.

It follows with, “no I’m not perfect but I hope you see my worth.”

I think that’s what most relationships usually tend to aim for.

It almost starts with a feeling of nervousness and uncertainty.

The lead ‘character’ in this song shares with us a conversation between them and the person they like.

They want to begin the relationship, but they have a feeling that the other person isn’t sure, almost portraying that they’ve been hurt in the past.

The song goes on to express that they want the other person to stay for a long time, promising them that they’ll always be there whenever needed.

He expresses that he may not be perfect, but he will do all he can to show how important the other person is to him.

The broader topic of acceptance of me being ‘at my worst’

Perhaps in the past, people would focus on looks, or intelligence, or probably a whole list of a million other things. But what this song touches on, is acceptance.

This is who I am, and I hope you can love that about me.

It’s a very cute song that speaks to the numerous amounts of people in the world who, at the end of the day, have realized that they are looking for belonging.

I find that loneliness is especially common amongst younger people nowadays. With being at home for so long, we’re left with our thoughts a lot of the time, instead of the plethora of mental stimulation all around us.

This song really touches on how it actually feels when we’re looking for true love.

That the most important thing, is really finding somebody who makes you comfortable with who you are.

Somebody, who can love us at our worst.

What do you think about this song?
