There is so much excitement and joy in me because I have started to countdown to a very special day.
And today, which so happens to be our 3 years and one month with my partner marks two months away.
We’ll finally be reunited in the same country after a chaotic year apart and I am absolutely overjoyed.
Although I know some people have to endure relationships while being long-distance for much longer periods of time, I think any relationship that has long distance involved is worth celebrating.
How it started
At the beginning of this experience, it was a big pill to swallow for the both of us.
We had spent so much time together since the beginning of our relationship, that anything separate from that seemed unimaginable.
I think one of the biggest things was learning how to live life separate from each other.
Trying to discover hobbies again, and reimagine ourselves in our current state.
It was hard to be a one again when you’ve been a pair for such a long time.
Over time we started to grow into our own persons.
Finding things about ourselves that we liked and learning things about ourselves we weren’t fans of.
We had to learn how to be by ourselves, but we eventually rediscovered what that means.
How it’s going
Through all the self discovery we went through, I think one thing was obvious.
We have a deeper appreciation for each other, more than what we’ve experienced to date.
As well, the growth experienced through our time apart.
We had both grown a lot since we last saw each other in person.
I think while we all have a deep appreciation for our partners, and a desire to see them all the time, it’s actually our time apart that matters.
A countdown to commemorate the situation seems right, but it truly felt like we’d never get to a stage where it’s so within reach.
The countdown begins
And so today officially marks two months before I’m finally reunited with my partner.
I think I speak for both of us when I say we’re appreciative of this journey, but truly we can’t wait to give each other a big ol hug.
While technology has advanced quite a bit, there’s just no replacement for the real thing.
