I want you for my hand | What I learned from Ed Sheeran

Mom, dad, I think I found the absolute song of the summer and it’s ‘For My Hand’ by Burna Boy and Ed Sheeran.

It’s no surprised that Ed Sheeran absolutely killed it again with this one.

This one gives me a special feeling.

I think it gives me a very unique idea of what summer can be.

Maybe it’s not the sun shining bright over the city like I have always thought.

Perhaps it’s meant to incorporate a unique South American flavour.

And although I know that isn’t the origin of the song, that’s where my mind travels to when I listen to this song.

Hold you for my hand

One of the most beautiful things about this song isn’t just the music, but the lyrics.

I love that it’s very centric around how two people feel towards each other instead of all the typical sexual stuff we hear these days.

But not just that, it describes little things that just relate the main character back to the person they’re singing about.

They don’t want anything more in life.

Just the other person.

And that’s how this song makes me feel.

That sometimes when you’re completely head over heels in love, you don’t need much more.

One of my favourite lines is “girl I want to be dancing with you forever”.

And that’s something that really makes me think of my own relationship.

Because something my partner and I really like to do together is dance like silly goofballs whenever we’re together.

To be honest, it puts such a big smile on my face just thinking about it.

It’s as easy as that sometimes.

Maybe we just need that one person in our lives where we see ourselves dancing with them like that forever.

Making complete fools of ourselves.

And yet, completely smiling and happy.

That’s what this song makes me feel.

And that’s what it means to just want my partner for my hand.

As well, it ties in perfectly with summer.

The instrumentals of this song just lay the perfect background music after a long day at the beach.

There’s so many things about this song that make me jump.

I think that Ed’s done it again and has even managed to introduce me to a new artist.

For my hand is a song that I think I’ll listen to and dance with my partner with.
