The wedding episode of Modern Family | What I learned from

I haven’t done one of these in a while, so I thought it’d be fun to talk about one of my all-time favourite episodes of Modern Family.

To be more specific, since a lot of people get married in the show, I am referring to Season 5 episode 24 of Modern Family.

This is something I’ve wanted to do for a long time.

SPOILER ALERT: I literally discuss this in-depth, so if you haven’t watched this, don’t continue reading.

A string of realizations

One of my favourite things I love about this episode is the plethora of realizations everybody has.

Whether its Cam’s parents realizing that their marriage is worth saving, or Haley realizing that she shouldn’t begin a relationship with Andy if she isn’t ready for commitment, there are actually a lot of lessons to be learned.

I think this reflects the different things we learn through life.

For those who are always thinking of ourselves first, we are shown a perspective where a selfish character puts someone else, they care about, before themselves.

Those who have always put others first, are shown two characters who are considering a separate life to just themselves.

I think the episode does a really good job of revealing these situations, and highlighting the outcome.

Sure, it may not all be glamourous, but I think it touches on the human in humanity. When needed, we’re all capable of putting the bigger picture first.

A picture-perfect ending

On that note, one of my favourite scenes is the finale, where Mitch finally walks down the aisle.

Unexpectedly, Jay grabs his arm and says “I thought we’d take a little walk.”

Something about this scene makes me cry every single time.

Everything about it is perfect.

At a time when everything seems to be chaotic at one point, and perfectly fine in the other, the cherry on top of the cake is when the macho masculine character shows his soft side on the day of his son’s wedding.

Maybe it’s because of my upbringing, or the fact that it’s just so unexpected.

This scene to me, is one that can make me instantly emotional.

Everything is chaos for a Modern Family

On a final note to really just wrap things up, the theme of the episode was chaos, as are most episodes.

The way it resolves at the end is just something that ties everything together nicely.

I can honestly say that it’s one of my absolute favourites of any series, and it’s perfect for emotional people like me.

If you’re in the mood for a happy cry, I highly recommend it.
