What I like about you | Telling them how you actually feel

When I was growing up, I remember a song called ‘What I like about you’. I always wondered why it wasn’t called ‘What I love about you’.

So there was also a movie I remember, called ’10 things I hate about you’, which should’ve actually been called 10 things I like about you because it was pretty much about that in my opinion.

I think the idea of telling someone how you feel has been the age-old puzzle that many millennials who grew up on those movies witnessed.

Even a lot of us growing up had trouble with that.

Telling someone else what you like about them.

I think even when you get into a relationship, sometimes that doesn’t really change.

How do they make you feel?

The first and most important step is figuring out your feelings.

I think this is the actual challenging part because as the word describes, it’s a feeling.

Something that we can sense with our beings, not something we can exactly quantify.

At least I think that’s the issue at this stage.

Actually just figuring out your emotions and how they make you feel.

Surprisingly, it’s hard to put into words even though you’re head over heels about someone.

But once you figure it out, then we can move on to step two.

I’d say we typically spend a bit of time on this stage though.

It’s difficult to tell you why I like you

Once we finally figure out how to let them know, I feel like nine times out of ten, just like everything I love about my partner, it has to do with who they are.

Because when you’re in a committed relationship, it’s not just a thing.

Or even when you’re confessing to someone, it’s not just a thing.

When we like someone, and I mean actually like someone, it’s more than just looks or personality.

It’s their overall vibe.

Their aura.

The way they compose themselves and the way they act.

Every little tweak, or move, everything.

That’s what I like about you.

And that’s what you likely put into words for them as well.

I mean sure you can say your smile makes my heart melt and lights up the entire night sky.

Or that your eyes are so big and beautiful that I get absolutely lost looking into them.

But usually, it’s who they are.

Now go out and confess

I made this one for the people with crushes out there.

Or maybe just the ones that have trouble telling their partner what they like about them.

But I think one of the most beautiful feelings on earth, is confessed to.

And just know, that no matter what happens, the other person will appreciate all those things you notice about them.

All those things that make YOU feel differently.

And it’s a beautiful thing.
